Everything You Need is Here
“Don’t worry,” I said, “everything you need is right here.” I was talking to my friend who wanted to have a resources center for neighborhood students in our place of worship.
We stared at a dilapidated forgotten space within the church that had formerly been a theatre. Elaine wondered how this space would transform but for some reason, I felt that everything she needed was already there.
The International Coach Federation regards clients as experts in his or her life and works with belief that a client is creative, resourceful and whole. Everything the client needs is within them just as it was in the space in need of a transformative experience. Our clients come to us possibly feeling forgotten and incomplete amongst other things. Coaching provides the opportunity for the client to find what is hiding inside and draw it out of him or her.
Approaching a client as one who is creative, resourceful, and whole allows them to build autonomy and even to be in a space of not knowing when necessary all in order to begin the shift in which they find themselves becoming the creative, resourceful, and whole being they are.
